You Have More Inside

Hello, sweet pea đź’—
So glad you’re here
Where caterpillars turn into butterflies.
Starting soon, every week, I share ancient wisdom, profound conversations and cool practices for
stop hiding

let go of your past
unleash the more you have inside
I started SOULCANDY because it wasn’t there when I needed it.
When I was running on empty, heading for a train wreck. There was no roadmap out of my dark tunnel. No friendly guide to wake me up to my worth and show me a new way of living — with a calm body, clear mind and open heart.
I slogged so you don’t have to.
F*cked
Ten years ago, at pinnacle of my career, I got the axe. Big house and three kids, my marriage died.
It was an ugly start.
But it was the beginning of tuning into that queasy feeling that my life had been hurtling off the rails for a long time….and discovering that there is another way of being that gets lost in our hustle culture.
Falling inward
Maybe like you (yes?), I’d been playing a big game, but really I was living small. Hiding in plain sight. Stuck inside an invisibility cloak that was decades in the making.
Deep down, no amount of hustle had quieted that feeling that I was always working but never doing my real work, that something inside was pinging for my attention but I wasn’t listening.
Until.
I couldn’t run from the wreckage.
Besides being the primary wage-earner and custodial parent 24/7 to three kids, I felt a new sensation: Stay, don’t go.
Getting quiet
Getting knocked down hit me like a ton of bricks. I’d been an overachieving people-pleaser for decades, but no amount of bustle had kept me safe. I’d just become a jangly hustler, trading overwork for a safe place to hide.
Thankfully, life has a way of rewarding the lost.
I started working at Mindful, studying the neuroscience of meditation and mindfulness with the world’s top experts, peering into the nitty-gritty science of how your mind can get trapped in habits, like hustle and hyper-vigilance.
And wondering, how do you really discover who you are and live into why you’re here?
These were questions I’d been asking for years — in my own life and in my work as a leader in health and wellness at Prevention, National Geographic, author of two New York Times bestselling books— but now it was urgent.
I sought authors, scholars, experts from science to spirituality, mystics, monks, shamans, exploring how do we tap into and live out the potential we have inside. How do caterpillars turn into butterflies. And, importantly, how do you do that in the midst of your fog, confusion, despair, overwhelm, when trauma has gotten lodged in your mind and body and you still need to make the donuts.
Eventually, I became a full-time student at an interfaith seminary, studying ancient wisdom and faith traditions around the world.
That’s when things really started to coalesce — in the science, in the wisdom and in the practices that have served generations of seekers, explorers…and train wrecks.
Waking up
If you decide to explore these ancient truths and practices, I think you may find
A lightening.
A simplicity.
A joyful evolution.
It’s not an easy road and I’m no guru.
You have to walk your own path and I still have miles to go on mine.
I don’t have your answers, but I do believe that there are ways that you can find them and you can experience your own personal awakening.
Enjoy a calm body, clear mind, open heart.
You can unleash the more you have inside.
However, I need to warn you.
Warning
The road ahead is not easy. It’s challenging. Confusing. Daunting. And worth every strange step.
Personal awakening requires new skills. Like learning how to see with the eyes of your heart, not only your physical eyes. You need to tap into your whole mind, body & spirit and learn to navigate a bigger reality. You need to call on parts of you that you didn’t know (like, really really know) that you have. That you already have, but are inside, dormant.
The decision is yours.
If you’re still reading, I think, secretly, you’ve wanted a moment like this, when you’d have to decide: Fish or cut bait. Stay or go. Explore what’s stirring inside or let it wither.
Up to you, sweet pea.
Is there a catch? Yes, take what works. Leave the rest. And share the wealth. Pass along whatever works to whoever needs it. That’s it.
You just need to decide: Are you in or out?
You’re invited. You’re wanted. Let this be where you explore your more.
Join me, sweet pea đź’—
At the very center of your being, you have the answers.
And you know what you want.
